The Banking and Finance option is designed to enable students to comprehend, analyze and critically assess an entity's financial condition and optimize its value. This option provides students with the skills needed for managerial positions in commercial banks and other financial institutions. Also, the Finance aspect prepares students for careers in corporate finance, investment management, public finance, insurance and related areas. Courses include insurance and risk management, investment, international finance, monetary and financial systems, central, rural and development banking, banking operations, and ethics, etc.
Courses in the Management option is based on the premise that many for-profit, non-profit, and governmental organizations require a knowledge of management principles best gained from a wholistic approach to decision making. Hence, the curriculum includes a foundation in business accounting, economics, communications, management theories, among others. These prepare students to apply important management concepts and theories from several disciplines. Their academic programme will enhance their skills in critical thinking, recognizing and resolving managerial issues using quantitative and behavioural methods and interpersonal skills.
